5 Irish fashion designers you should know (Part 1)

At EKO, we're all about championing creative voices that stand for something. This week, we're spotlighting five Irish designers whose work blends strong personal vision, ethical practices and bold aesthetics. Each one is shaping the future of fashion in their own way and they're doing it right here in Ireland.

  1. Aisling Duffy | @aislingduffystudio:

Art-led and DIY by nature, Aisling Duffy crafts one-of-a-kind pieces from deadstock, upcycled and organic fabrics. Her label, based between London and Dublin, explores identity and sustainability through rich textures and expressive color palettes. Everything is made-to-order and hand-painted in her studio, ensuring zero waste and total creative autonomy.

  2. Ríon Hannora | @rionhannora:

For Ríon, the body is an exhibition space. Her slow fashion practice exists somewhere between fine art and club culture, with influences ranging from amateur graffiti to the Baroque era. Ríon handmakes each piece in Dublin using reclaimed fabrics and zero-waste methods. Think corsets that are as empowering as they are adjustable, and garments that carry the energy of the communities that inspire them.

  3. Sarah O’Neill (The Zero Waster) | @the_zerowaster:

Sarah O’Neill works from Cork and leads The Zero Waster studio with a mission to radically reduce fashion’s impact. Every piece is made from repurposed materials like discarded sailcloth, wetsuits or recycled cottons, and dyed naturally with plants like logwood and pomegranate. Her work is part activism, part innovation, and 100% rooted in circular design.

  4. Shock of Grey | @shockofgreyshop:

Founded by Sarah Carroll Kelly in 2019, Shock of Grey is known for its bold, sculptural statement jewellery. Made from FSC-certified wood, brass and clay, each piece is designed, cut and assembled by hand in Dublin. The materials are unconventional, the colours vibrant, and the goal clear: help people express their true, vibrant selves sustainably.

  5. Alice Halliday | @alicehalliday:

From a slow fashion studio in West Cork, Alice Halliday creates ethereal bridal and event wear using antique lace, reclaimed fabrics and beach-combed treasures. With a nostalgic, fairytale aesthetic, each piece is handcrafted to be as unique as the wearer. Her work has been worn by Florence Welch and featured in British Vogue, but remains grounded in the values of nature, magic and sustainability.

This is just the beginning. Ireland is full of visionaries redefining what it means to create with intention. Let us know who else we should feature next.
