Behind the lens

What made you decide to start modeling ?

I used to be the tallest and skinniest in my class during my teenage years and I was bullied a lot because of that, which made me very insecure with my appearance. Some people in my family and friends though kept saying that I was beautiful and should take advantage of my height and try modelling.

I then decided to go to an agency in Salvador, Brazil (where I am originally from) however they said I needed to lose weight and my mum was completely against the idea of seeing me lose weight.

I still had that dream in my mind but with all the difficulties and lack of confidence I gave up on trying to be a model.

After a few years of living in Ireland and building my confidence through therapy sessions I decide to try applying for modeling again and this time I succeeded, so I was extremely happy !

How did you become a model ?

I contacted a few agencies and send them a brief description of myself with a few photos. Eko was the only agency that contacted me back and I was delighted to be considered for a test shooting and start working as a model !

Are you stressed before the shoot ?

I am not really stressed before the shoot, sometimes a bit anxious or nervous but never stressed. I try to have a good night sleep the prior to the shooting day. I also try to research about the client, previous work and what they will be expecting from me.

The most helpful way to relax is when you understand their expectations and having the information of what is going to be involved in the shooting day. They usually send a mood board and/or some briefing with details and an agenda for the day. Reading through them a few times and having some poses in mind can really help.

What is your goal in the future ?

I want to continue working as a model, obtain more experience and keep building my portfolio.

My main goal is to inspire people with my work, especially women. I want to encourage them to face their fears, try new things, take risks and to not care about being judged !
