5 Irish Fashion Designers You need to Know (Part 3)

From sculptural accessories to rave-ready streetwear, this week’s five featured designers are names you're going to want to remember.

1. Alana Conlon | @alana_conlon_:

Hailing from Wicklow, Ireland, mixed-realities artist and designer Alana Conlon is making a name for herself with her first collection, Horrid #1. Each piece combines her observational drawings with digital sculptures to create 3D printed and sustainably hand finished accessories. The collection is a blend of surrealism and sustainability; consisting of organic, thorny shapes that fuse both technology and nature together.

2. Megan McGuian | @seekingjudy:

In an attempt to earn some pocket money, a then 15 year old Megan McGuian founded Seeking Judy. From selling t-shirts at local pop-ups and markets to opening her own brick and mortar store/studio in George’s Street Arcade, Megan has found success in creating high quality pieces built to last a lifetime. Her latest endeavor, Solstice by Seeking Judy, has been featured in Vogue four times after gaining attention at 2024 Copenhagen Fashion Week. Megan’s designs are inspired by landscapes, escapism, textures, and nostalgia. Prioritizing both sustainability and quality.

3. Megan Nolan Walsh | @mnw_design:

Dublin Based designer and DJ Megan Nolan Walsh designs with dancing, accessibility, and comfort in mind. Megan’s designs are known for their bright, bold, rave ready color ways and detailed glitter embellishing. Her Brand, MNW Design, has recently made headlines for its iconic Claddagh scarf, debuting for the first time at Dublin’s Independent Fashion Week this past November.

4. Hope Macaulay | @hope.macaulay:

Woman-owned contemporary luxury fashion brand Hope Macaulay focuses on creating sustainable, wearable pieces of art. In 2020, Hope developed a knitting method using only her hands. She later assembled a team of women, carefully teaching them how to make each design with her no-needle method. The company focuses on keeping a small supply chain, and supporting local women of Northern Ireland with meaningful work. Hope recently earned a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and has been featured in several notable fashion publications.

5. Claire Garvey | @clairegarveydesigner_:

Best known for incredibly detailed and whimsical flair, designer Claire Garvey is no stranger to Ireland’s fashion scene. Through the years, she has created looks for the Grammys, Oscars, an impressive list of celebrities, publications, and more. With an emphasis in sustainability and passion for slow fashion, Claire and her label have continued to grow and serve as an inspiring force for designers both in and outside of Ireland.
